As the asbestos exposure giving rise to a claim can often be as long as 30 years ago, the company in question may no longer be trading, have changed its name or nature of business or have been acquired or merged with other organisations.
When a company no longer exists there is often very little hard information. Often records have been destroyed long ago and, as you may expect, insurance companies are less than helpful at when it comes to volunteering information.
Corries has a great deal of experience in tracing employers of defunct businesses and their insurers. We have also developed techniques to trace employers and their insurers through company records, fellow workers, the Inland Revenue, local authority records, newspaper reports and other sources.
