Claims for compensation are made against employers.
As the asbestos exposure giving rise to a claim can often
be as long as 30 years ago, the company in question may
no longer be trading, have changed its name or nature of
business or have been acquired or merged with other organisations.
This can prove to be a substantial obstacle because, in
order to lodge a claim, we need to identify the employer
and its insurer at the time in question.
When a company no longer exists there is often very little
hard information. Often records have been destroyed long
ago and, as you may expect, insurance companies are less
than helpful at when it comes to volunteering information.
Corries has a great deal of experience in tracing employers
of defunct businesses and their insurers. Through the scope
of our work, we have built up a substantial computer database
of past clients which cross-references employers and insurers
and tracks companies throughout their various name changes
during years of trading.
We have also developed techniques to trace employers and
their insurers through company records, fellow workers,
the Inland Revenue, local authority records, newspaper reports
and other sources.
On many occasions our tenacity on clients' behalf has demonstrated
that achieving a result may be one phone call or letter
away and our commitment is to go that extra distance whenever
it is required.
If you think you may have a claim, please call
0800 043 8884 for an informal chat to discuss your situation
or simply fill in our online form on this page.
