Nursing Neglect
Gynaecological errors are the main source of medical negligence
claims in the UK.
Although medical professionals are entrusted with providing
an appropriate standard of care to all women, mistakes can,
and do, arise.
These can result in infections, infertility, miscarriage,
birth injuries and even death. As well as physical harm,
gynaecological errors often also have severe emotional and
psychological consequences for the patient and their families.
The most common negligence claims arise from:-
- Failure to properly terminate a pregnancy
- Thrombosis caused by oral contraceptives
- Failure to prevent pregnancy
- Side effects from contraceptives/hormones
- Perforation of the uterus by intra urine devises such
as the coil
- Failure of sterilisation
- Unplanned pregnancy
- Abortion
- Perforation of the uterus or other internal organ damage
during abortion
